For the last few years, it has been a dream of mine to utilize plastic waste and divert it from polluting the environment. Since I started in 2019, I have been able to up-cycle plastic waste into small products such as earrings, soap dishes and flower pots (through self determination and also collaboration). The support from the community has been a large motivator in continuing when the challenges got tricky. Now, it's my hope to be able to take that support and turn it into products that can have an even larger impact within the community. Being able to make benches would not only be useful for the community but also use up far more plastic. My dream is to be able to accomplish this feat using Precious Plastic plans (as seen below) and then taking this project to local schools and getting kids involved in the recycling process.
I will be working in collaboration with Nada Makes out of Edmonton to hopefully see this dream to fruition.
Here is a video on how to make beams from recycled plastic using a Precious Plastic extruder.
Below is a link on how benches can be made from extruded, recycled plastic beams:

Creator/Maker
In 2019, while teaching my two young boys about 3D printing, I decided to try to figure out a way to utilize plastic waste to create new products instead of creating more waste. Fed by my passion for the environment and a strong desire to leave behind a better place for my kids, I began a two year long journey of research and building unique plastic processing machines. Perseverance, determination and collaboration led me to where I am today; up-cycling locally collected plastic bottle caps into beautiful, reusable items such as earrings. Not only did my own desires fuel my mission, but the willingness and efforts of the Flagstaff Community to donate their caps inspired me to continue with my pursuits. It is my hope that the products I create not only contribute to a better world through recycling but also bring lasting joy and spread awareness through the story they create.
